Many of our stories begin with, It all started when…

Betsy Appleby
Treasurer

Betsy is a longtime resident of Marshfield. She taught at South River School for many years where she later served as the Assistant Principal. She has known the Hunter family since 1987, when they first met and her children became friends with Anjuli and Drew. The two families spent many holidays and vacations together. Betsy enjoyed watching Drew and Anjuli grow up to become adventurous, intelligent and compassionate young adults.

Betsy brings great experience and many connections to the community. She has served as Treasurer since the inception of Goodwill Hunters and facilitates Goodwill Hunters’ relationship with the Food Pantry’s programs, Habitat for Humanity, as well as being on the Board of South River Park.

Kim Arouca
Vice President

Kim and Gail were team teachers at a local preschool when their professional partnership grew into a great friendship. After witnessing the heartache her dearest friend Gail suffered with such profound loss, Kim knew there had to be a way to acknowledge the loss, the love, and the energy of Drew and Anjuli.
While it took only seconds to find the right group of dedicated board members, it took years to find the right endeavor to honor the Hunters. With great consideration and group effort, Goodwill Hunters (GWH) was founded. Kim appreciates how GWH continues to be a gift to all those who love the Hunters as well as to all those touched by the work of the organization.

Ann Berrada
Ann has lived in Marshfield since 1978. She is involved with many volunteer organizations including the YMCA and the Memory lane singers.

After the tragic loss of Anjuli and then Drew, who were great friends of her son and daughter-in-law, Ann felt inspired to help find a way to honor their spirit and find goodness in the unthinkable, as well as helping the Hunters and the numerous friends of their children to find a positive way to grieve and stay connected. It was in her living room, months after Drew’s passing, that she invited a group of friends to meet. There, the roots of Goodwill Hunters were planted.

Miranda Appleby Berrada
Miranda grew up in Marshfield and graduated from Marshfield High School in 2000.  She has known the Hunter family for as long as she can remember.  Many of her favorite memories include exploring the woods as well as participating in winter and water sports with Anjuli, Drew and her younger sister Lucy.  The two families spent countless holidays and weekends together.

Miranda manages communications for the Goodwill Hunters’ inboxes and Duck Derby ticket sales.

Michael Berrada Michael Berrada grew up in Marshfield and attended school with both Anjuli and Drew. Their friendship blossomed in High School, as their ever-expanding group of friends often gathered to go skiing and enjoy all that Marshfield has to offer. Mike has been involved in many aspects of Goodwill Hunters, but his top accomplishments are coming up with the organization’s creative name and sharing the foresight to secure our domain name. Michael’s exuberant personality is always present at our events, but especially at the riverside as he “calls the race” during our annual Duck Derby.

Anthony Brugnoli
Anthony is a long-time friend of the Hunter family. He and Anjuli dated in college and spent their spring break together in Italy. Anthony joined the board as a way to give back to the community and to honor the lives of Drew and Anjuli.

To Anthony, Goodwill Hunters is a way to ensure that the memory of the Hunter children never fades. He and his partner in crime and fellow GWH board member, Johnny Cullen, are the leading duck sellers for Goodwill Hunters, so if you see them outside of Star Market or Roche Bros make sure to stop by and buy a duck. During the annual duck derby, you can find him organizing the kayakers on the river while plucking the winning duck from the water.

Casey Chebator
Casey lives in Marshfield with his wife and fellow board member Lauren Chebator. He was friends with Anjuli Hunter and is actively engaged in local volunteering and charitable events.

Being a GWH Board Member allows him to honor Anjuli and Drew and continue to spend time with those who loved them so deeply. Casey manages river operations and the relationship with the Marshfield Harbormaster as part of the annual Duck Derby.

Lauren Chebator
Anjuli and Lauren began their friendship in the 8th grade. They played on many soccer and lacrosse teams together over the years.  Their friend group spent a lot of time laughing, traveling and helping one another navigate through high school.  Anjuli and Lauren were roommates in South Boston, beginning their careers and building their lives together, when she passed away.  Lauren recalls, “Anjuli was a link that connected many friend groups together with the sole purpose of just having a good time.  Anjuli is the reason I met and married my husband, Casey.  Drew visited all of our friends in Boston prior to his passing and we all loved him like a brother.  Honoring Drew and Anjuli through Goodwill Hunter’s has been a passion of mine.”

Lauren loves the fact that Goodwill Hunters recognizes and supports organizations throughout the south shore that don’t typically receive funding.  One of her favorites is Fragile Footprints Pediatric Palliative Care Program, which supports children and families with life limiting illnesses in many ways.

Johnny Cullen

Johnny is a lifelong resident of Marshfield. He graduated from Marshfield High School in 2001 with Anjuli Hunter and fellow board members Alie Romano, Lauren Chebator, Jenn Razzano and Michael Berrada. You may have heard Johnny promoting Goodwill Hunters’ annual Duck Derby on WATD or seen him “slinging ducks” at the local grocery store.

Gail Hunter
President

Gail Hunter has lived in Marshfield since 1987, when she and her husband, Jeremy, moved there with their two children, Anjuli and Drew. They fell in love with this seaside community that guided and enriched the lives of Anjuli and Drew. Gail continued her teaching career at a local preschool, where she met and cemented many lasting friendships with peers, parents and children. She and her husband are constantly amazed and touched by the generous community support, which allows Goodwill Hunters to honor their children in such a meaningful way.

Jenn Razzano
Secretary

Jenn spent her childhood in Marshfield enjoying much of what the area has to offer: beaches, woods, sports and community.  Today, she enjoys those same features through the lenses of her two children Emilia and Christian. She and Anjuli grew up together and stayed close through college. They were neighbors in South Boston, always creating life-long memories over the years.  Jenn values her family and friends and tries to live with the same zest for life and relationships that Anjuli did.

She values all of the organizations for which Goodwill Hunters has provided support, but having practiced yoga over the last few years and being a dog lover (and owner of a lovely, chubby mutt, Ernie), her favorites are the Namaste Stars program and the Marshfield Animal Shelter.

Alie Romano
Alie is a long-time resident of Marshfield. She graduated from Marshfield High School with Anjuli in 2001 and their friendship continued throughout college. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Alie lived and worked in Boston for several years before heading to California’s East Bay Area to attend Bauman College’s Natural Chef program. Upon completion she moved back to Marshfield where she currently lives with her growing family.

Alie’s love for animals has led her to support the connection between Goodwill Hunters and the Marshfield Animal Shelter, as well as other groups and projects.
